Hugo, Yugo, we all go. . .

I just received this email with the cataclysmic assertion that Citgo was changing it's name to Petro Express and that everyone should avoid these stores like the bubonic plague. Now, I'm all for doing anything I can to put the screws to Chavez, but I just had to investigate this claim a bit further before I began my own personal boycott.

What follows is the text of the email, errors, omissions, bad grammar included:

CITGO Changing Name To PETRO EXPRESS VERY IMPORTANT Hugo Chavez is starting to feel the loss of revenue from his U.S. holdings. He OWNS CITGO, and this is a very important move thateveryone should be aware. ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN DUETO U.S. (CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CHAVEZ"), HAVE STARTED TOCHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES, TO: "PETRO EXPRESS" DO NOT BUY FROM CITGO OR "PETRO EXPRESS" "PETRO EXPRESS" IS ALSO 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ" KEEP THIS MEMO GOING SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING.

Let's take a deeper look.

Petro Express

Petro Express Drops Citgo

It seems that Petro Express is owned by a private consortium based in North Carolina and has already given Chavez the finger. Good for them and good for us. Let's hope others follow suit.

I have written Petro Express to suggest that they post their non-relationship with Citgo on their website in an effort to bring the misguided back home.

AND for Chavez, I have one word, one letter, three asterisks and an exclamation point for you:

F*** You!
