I just finished reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
I won't give away any plot details except to say that it's about love, war, sin, and redemption against a very brutal and honest backdrop of real life. An emotionally stirring novel of the then and now in Afghanistan through the eyes of a boy, later a man. Culturally insightful and open about the truths and fictions of the customs, people, laws, and lawlessness during the past 30 some odd years. Absolutely unforgettable.
