As Buckwheat Once Said. . .

. . .here I is!!

Back safe and sound in the confines of Worksville.

Let me just say that sometimes I'm smart. And sometimes I'm really smart. And other times I'm really really smart. This ain't one of those times.

At the Jackson airport this morning, after a rather uneventful flight, I wheeled my bag out to the parking garage to find that some dumbass left his truck window down all weekend. That'd be this dumbass right here. Yet, thankfully it appears that the innards were unmolested. Even the crumpled up dollar bill tucked under the armrest/console thing was still there, crumpled up.

So, thanks to all the people who walked past my truck and didn't steal my all-important dollar. Or my Gourmet magazine. Or my dirty workboots. Or last week's Clarion-Ledger.

In celebration of the goodness of humanity and my return to slavery work, let's play a personal fave of my by The Pretender's, Back on the Chain Gang.

Indeed.

I bumped into you in El Campeador’s Blog a few times and joined in when the two of you talked about the old days and places a few days ago. I visit his Blog daily; in fact it is partly because of my interest in his Blog that I have now started my own.

Various things got my interest and I notice you mention your favorite book as All Creatures Great and Small. Would that be the one I know as All Creatures Great And Small The Lord God Made Them All by James Herriot? If so, have you read his other work? I have all of them here; our daughter who resides in York, Yorkshire UK lives near the area where Herriot had his practice [you know Herriot is not his real name and the little town where he worked is also ‘’hidden’’ but Janine, that’s our daughter, found and visited it] and she came across a commemorative issue of all eight of his works in a package and I am the proud owner now.

Also, if it is indeed the lovable Herriot, have you read Paul Gallico [Scruffy, Mathilda, Jennie, …. etc.] well, and then you would be quite a guy in my book.

Do let me know but please understand that I have to cook because I have to eat but I am no great cook at all.

I forgot. My Blog is at http://ikejakson.wordpress.com/ and you may place a comment with your answers anywhere there, or you may if you wish comment in all of them. I want to steer away from some of the political intrigue and start a follow-up series on Books I have read …. More than Once.

You will note my Blog is now on El Campeador’s; we have decided to exchange and you may read my articles to date to decide whether you want me on your side. It will be a pleasure for me to have yours.

Thin Lizzy. C-Rad would never let me forget!

Mr. Ike,

Yes, in fact it is James Herriot of All Creatures fame. I've read most of his volumes and a few of them several times over. They still make me laugh, cry, chuckle, and in some instances, long for a country life as his.

It sounds as if you have a lovely collection of his books. You should be proud. I've never read any of the Gallico books, but since you have pointed them out, I shall investigate.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck with the blogging!

Thanks BT for the reply on the book. I hope to do Scruffy by Paul Gallico next.

Best in your block. The food smell nice and I like the the open fire.
