Jackson Police investigate an armed robbery and carjacking. It happened at Memorial Stadium late last night and officers say a large sum of money was taken. Police say employees were closing up the ticket office after Sunday's "Battle of the Bands." Officers say workers were loading approximately $200,000 into an Dodge Durango when a white Crown Victoria with two or three men inside pulled up. The men had guns and at least one of them jumped out of the car and took the SUV with the money inside. The men driving the Crown Vic followed them out of the parking lot. Around 4:30 this morning, that Durango was found burned out at McCain Avenue and Lindbergh in West Jackson.
Inside job??
More fun and games:
Jackson Police investigate the city's latest murder. Around 4:30 Monday morning, police were called to Maple and Rondo streets for an accident. When they got there, they found a red Nissan sports car had crashed into a pole. They also found several bullet holes in the driver's side door. The man in the car was taken to UMC where he died. Investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what happened that lead to this deadly shooting.
You gocks to watch where you be drivin fool, might run into a bullet.
And last, but not least this from The Clarion Ledger:
A man died after being shot multiple times by a Jackson police officer Sunday evening following a traffic stop at Stonewall Street and Commerce Park Drive.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said the man was shot multiple times in the chest and lower extremities.
She described him as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s.
Jackson police were not releasing the man's name pending notification of family. Grisham-Stewart said the man was not carrying identification. She said she hoped to have his name as early as today.
Jackson Police Chief Shirlene Anderson said the officer, whose name is not being released, made a traffic stop on a car driven by the deceased.
The officer discovered the man had several outstanding misdemeanor warrants and took him into custody.
Once in custody, an altercation occurred and deadly force was used, Anderson said.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
JPD spokesman Sgt. Jeffery Scott said the shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. He would not release additional information.
The man's body has been turned over to the state Crime Lab, where an autopsy is expected to be performed later today.
Scott said he did not know the last time a JPD officer was involved in a fatal shooting.
In March, a JPD officer shot and wounded a man who had opened fire on a security guard and grocery store worker attempting to make a night deposit in northeast Jackson.
In April, an off-duty JPD officer working as a security guard shot and wounded a man suspected of casing cars. A month later, another officer shot and wounded a man who attempted to drag him a during a traffic stop.
Let me hear the peoples say "Castle Doctrine baby!" Cuz you gone need it, huh.
