"Americans used to say where there's a will, there's a way. Nowadays, it's where there's a pill, there's a way out." - - Burnt Toast

Port Gibson. . .

As I posted last week, Port Gibson, Mississippi was deemed "too beautiful to burn" by General Ulysses S. Grant as he passed through on his way to ultimate victory in Vicksburg.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation, on the other hand, apparently thinks it's a great place to widen the infamous Highway 61 right through the middle of town. This comes at the risk of impacting the historic churches and antebellum homes that line Church Street.

There is a petition here for you to sign. And click on the links inside to visit Port Gibson to see just how beautiful it really is.

Thanks to "Cudi Bug" for sending this in.
