An Animal. . .

. . .is always wild.

A bizarre and horrific story out of Connecticut and the reason why humans need to understand, animals are animals, not cutesy little things we project our human attributes upon. Even my cats, as domesticated as they are, will turn into buzzsaws of screeching death when they feel fear. Just ask the gals at my vet's office.

Toast, I once worked with an old boy who had a chimp act with the Clyde Beatty Circus. He told me some stories about the damn things that would curl you socks. Chimps, on the average are about eight times stronger than a man. The ones you usually see in movies are babies. A full grown chimp is not something to screw around with. They can be vicious and agressive with human beings. The are, and always will be, wild animals.

When Jane Goodall did her chimp studies she was on their turf and learned to respect them. Even then she had more than a few run-ins. Compared to Chimps, Gorillas are outright pacifists. Chimps, other than human beings, are one of the few animals known to make war on their own kind and they often practice canabalism. The damn things are better off left in the wild. I'll take my cats any day.
