Cool!

Giant tinfoil spaceships are cool!


This was the photo gracing the wall at the check-in center at Stennis today. I stood there for a while waiting for my pass and after studying the photograph closely, I can understand why some people think we never made it to the moon. In the large format of this picture every detail is visible and it does have a rather surreal quality, but I don't know. . .I'm pretty sure we made it to the moon. We're Americans, we run shit™.

Someone once said, "Fortune sides with him who dares." That's what passed through my mind as I admired this photo and our ingenuity. America? Yeah, we're pretty awesome.

Danger Will Robinson!!

The Association of Space Explorers is going to ask the United Nations to take "responsibility" for thwarting a potential collision between the Earth and an asteroid.

In an article published by Reuters, the group, which is comprised of former astronauts and cosmonauts, is seeking to have a series of workshops concerning the potential impact by these "threatening space rocks."

A quote from former astronaut Rusty Schweickart states, "Although the odds of an impact by this particular asteroid [asteroid Apophis] are low, a recent congressional mandate for NASA to upgrade its tracking of near-Earth asteroids is expected to uncover hundreds, if not thousands of threatening space rocks in the near future."

I think the odds of getting the United Nations to do ANYTHING about asteroids are even lower.
