"Americans used to say where there's a will, there's a way. Nowadays, it's where there's a pill, there's a way out." - - Burnt Toast

Yesterday. . .

I had the distinct pleasure of shooting a Ruger Deerfield Carbine chambered in .44 Magnum. The bolt design of the rifle is reminiscent of the old M-1 Garand gas-operated bolt. Shoots beautifully, manageable recoil since the majority of the gases are used to operate the sliding bolt and good heavens what an outstanding report!! Hearing protection IS absolutely required.

This gun has an 18 1/2" barrel which reduces accuracy at long shooting distances, but it is primarily designed for shooting in heavy cover at shorter ranges. And frankly, a .44 Magnum bullet has ridiculous amounts of drop past 75-80 yards anyway.

So, if you're looking for a cool, portable brush gun with tremendous amounts of knock-down power, check out this weapon. At a bare minimum, it is very, very loud and we all like that in a gun, don't we??
