A New Video. . .

Here is Melis Danişmend and her band Üçnoktabir in their latest music video performing Bahçe. For those of you that don't know, which is practically everyone in the United States, Melis and her band hail from Turkey and are fast becoming the most popular rock band in their home country. They've made several appearances in large music festivals, they opened for Pink in her 2004 appearance in Istanbul and sell out anything from local rock bars to moderately sized venues.



I've never met Melis personally, but her twin sister and I know each other from culinary school and we became close. If Melis is anything like Esra, she is something to be reckoned with. I mean, what kind of a woman would take a crazy redneck (that's me) up on his offer to bail out of an airplane, 14,000 feet above Lake Okeechobee? She must be something special!

Here is some "art" I made for Melis, as she and Esra celebrated their 427th birthday together. Yeah, it's weird, but when Turkish twins celebrate, you have to factor everything by 71.
