Junkyard Bird??

Nils and I have been perfecting our international bird photography for years, but even experienced photographers like ourselves come across a new and exciting surprise every now and then.

Below is Brunhilda, a white cockatoo, who greeted us with a friendly hello as we entered a junkyard somewhere in West Palm Beach over ten years ago. She was a curious bird and kept and eye on our every move and even took a moment to pose nicely for my old Canon Eos Élan IIeQD film camera. Yes, a film camera. Sounds crazy doesn't it?

I should probably get that old camera out and start using it again. Nils and I filmed a lot of wonderful birds with it.

Sea The Birds. . .

Well, finally made it back home from the vacation.  I'll spend the next few days working over the photographs, all 1445 of them, and putting together as best I can the happenings of the week to share.  I met some great people, had a wonderful time with old friends and family and the week on the beach was filled with unforgettable memories.

In the meantime here are a couple of bird pictures.  After all, Nils and I are world renowned international bird photographers.

Below is Walter the grackle who visited each and every morning and afternoon.

And of course, no trip to the beach is complete without the ubiquitous seagull.

Heartache. . .

Our post office has had birds living in the canopy over the entrance for as long as I can remember.  Today when I entered I could hear birds chirping inside the building, which is unusual because I usually hear them outside.  Just beneath my p.o. box I found these two babies huddled together and scared.

And John Q. Public?  Well, they were totally ignoring them as they passed or gawking in fascination as the poor creatures struggled against the wall.  So, leave it to Dr. Dolittle here to break into action and rescue the poor things.  I set them outside where I know most of the nests are and hopefully the parents will come back to look after them until they get their flight wings going.

Damn you people!  Where is the humanity in this world?

Nothing But Boobies. . .

I found an interesting website (not what you're thinking) the other day about birds.

Cornell University hosts a website called All About Birds and it has tons of information for birding enthusiasts. Alphabetical and Taxonomic lists, as well as the basics of birding and how to attract birds.

So, get out your binoculars and bird away! Countless coots, terns, mergansers, boobies, grebes, gallinules, kestrels and loons are waiting to be discovered by you!

Bobcat is a huge fan. For scurrilous reasons no doubt.
