Soylent Green. . .
I made reference to the above movie some days ago and for those who aren't familiar, the film was an early 1970's Charlton Heston vehicle, where he plays a NY cop on the verge of discovering a terrible state secret, the new food Soylent Green is made from people. This was the futuristic totalitarian government's simple solution to the overpopulation of the planet.
Rewind from 2022 to 2009.
Nancy Pelosi, obviously taking from Obama's weak record on abortion, is arguing that $200 million dollars for "contraceptive services" is a smart way to stimulate the economy. But, I beg to question, isn't exactly what a nanny state needs for survival is people? Or another way, is she implying that the current financial crisis is being caused by too much of a burden on social services by people?
Color me confused.
My guess is, and this is astute political analysis that you can bank on, Nancy Pelosi doesn't know what the fuck she is talking about. Or better yet, Nancy Pelosi is so incomprehensibly inept, void and unqualified beyond anything that doesn't require her to raise her legs above her head, that my mind sparkles in a hot fire of grinding motion, inhibiting my cognitive grasp on how this person has been elevated to fourth or fifth most powerful person on the planet!
Add to this fantastic news that Obama is going to allow states to determine their own emission standards and we've got the beginnings of a long toilet flush into oblivion and extinction for the Untied States. This is a whole 'nother concept that I cannot portend to understand.
The past and present politicians of the US government have twisted the law and logic to such extent, that automakers have all but had to play naked Twister with a trope of wild badgers peaking on LSD to make cars in this day and age. And now, Obama is going to put the decision-making and good faith into the hands of 50 legislatures to finalize what they think is best for the emission control systems of internal combustion engines? Holy fuck! Our legislature in Mississippi is littered with legions of ignorant dopes who can't even speak or write proper English. And I should expect these morons to legislate exhaust emissions?
So, let's say I purchase a car here in Mississippi that has been constructed to the "car-rah emmitin' specimifications" which qualify it for driving in Mississippi. And then I decide to move to Idaho because I want to make goat cheese in the summer and hunker down in the winter with my goats, Beatrice and a Scrabble board. Oh, but 'lo and behold, the great state of Idaho will not accept my car because it's not made to the specifications their own inept legislature has recommended as law?
Hmmm, quite the conundrum.
The solution?
You bethcha! Taxes fokker!
Expect to have to pay travel/emission taxes to cross borders with your state specific automobiles.
I don't know. Me? I guess I'm just having a hard time with this hope and change thing.
And as for Obama, Pelosi, Reid? Looks like contraceptives could have been a good option for them in the past. Maybe starting with their parents.
As a side note, Drew M. over at AceofSpadesHQ, clarifies the contraception stimulus/financial crisis clearly, "Er, spending money now to 'save' money later isn't exactly 'stimulus'."
