Tuesday's Zen. . .

Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. -- Kahlil Gibran

And since I didn't post yesterday, Breda fills the gap with a cutesy animal video that's gonna make you run right out and buy whatever the hell that little thing is!

You may now return to you regularly scheduled programming of hating your work.

Bang Bang, UR DED!

I was over at Breda's place this morning reading a post about Eva Mendes' ignorance and it reminded me of something my father once told me many years ago while having one or twenty too many Budweisers and during my lamentations of an emotional breakup with a lousy girlfriend.

In his "wisdom" he belched, "Son, if it weren't for that mysterious little triangle between their legs, there'd be a bounty on their heads."

Thanks Dad.

Luckily, I didn't grow up believing that narrow-minded jibber-jabber and I turned out to be a rather well-deformed and unlikeable man despite my father's beer-soaked, philisophical leanings. But Breda's post brought back a more recent memory too, from this past Sunday on NPR as some dimwit pays a visit to the rifle range of the National Rifle Association.

The choice quote, ". . .it's a black, scary looking thing."

Oh those evil guns. Almost as evil as those mysterious triangles.

Greetings From Siltville. . .

Yes, I'm back. And thank God, right? It's been pretty damn boring around here, hasn't it?

I've got some catching up to do, so bear with me for another day or so. I'll try to get some interesting stuff on here for your entertainment.

I've been in Houston for the last few days. My 10 day vacation was shortened somewhat by the damned hurricane, but nevertheless I had a grand time. Cooked a lot, ate a lot, visited with Beatrice and partook in an old pastime of mine that I have sorely missed, although my sore and aging body has not, bowling.

In the meantime, here is a great report on the depths at which the Democrats and Barack Obama will stoop to smear Sarah Palin. Dr. Shakleford and the troops over at the Jawa Report smelled a rat and during their investigation what did they find? Well, more than one stinking Democrat rat, I can assure you. Great job Doctor, top shelf!

Web Roundup:

Here's a neat little anecdote by Breda about children, guns and adult perception.

Iowahawk has an interesting and cunning take on the current "mortgage crisis."

And lastly, well crap. . .work is calling. Be back later. . .

. . .brown, tan and gray slickensided heavy (Yazoo) clay with sand, lignite nodules and calcareous, here I come!!!

I Simply Have To Admit. . .

some people are exponentially sharper than I am.

A new blog I've been reading lately called The Breda Fallacy is operated by a beer-drinking "reference librarian" who is also a gun-toting, artistic amputee. . .and frankly she doesn't mince words when it comes to base observations of the obvious.

Like this one.
